About The Viewport Emulator
The Viewport Emulator is a free online tool to test your responsive web design on a variety of viewports from electronic devices like tablet computers or smartphones.
Features
- Works with locally resolvable and global URLs.
- The viewport is scalable to a real life size on your individual screen.
- The viewport is scalable to a fixed percentual scale factor as well.
- The viewport can easily be rotated to portrait and landscape mode.
- A scrollbar-toggle allows you to hide scrolling bars if necessary.
Limitations
The Viewport Emulator was build to get an idea of how a web application adapts to a specific device viewport. There is no aim for accurate emulation of the exact device rendering behavior. This means, not everything you see on the emulated device will work or look exactly like that on the real device. For best matching results, try to run The Viewport Emulator on the same type of browser as used by the device.
The Viewport Emulator always uses the vendor predefined virtual resolution as the viewport size by default. Due to technical limitations, The Viewport Emulator is not able to detect viewport-specific CSS rules of the rendered content automatically. Therefore the use of the full native device resolution has to be adjusted manually if required.
The scaling quality of The Viewport Emulator depends on the capabilities of the utilized browser. Changing browsers can help to improve scaling quality.
The range of protocols supported by The Viewport Emulator is limited to HTTP and HTTPS.
